Our Core Promise: Zero Data Collection
Smart History Cleaner was built with privacy as its foundational principle. We do not collect, store, transmit, or process any of your personal data, browsing history, or any other information that passes through the extension.
Everything the extension does happens locally on your device. Your data never touches our servers — because we don't have servers that receive your data.

We collect no personal information. Specifically:

2. Extension Permissions
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each with a clear purpose:
"history"Required to read and delete your browsing history. This data is processed only on your device and never transmitted.
"cookies"Required for the Cookie Manager feature to list and delete cookies by domain.
"browsingData"Required to clear browser cache and cached images/files.
"alarms"Required for the Scheduled Cleanup feature to trigger automated deletions.
"storage"Required to save your preferences and settings locally in Chrome's storage.
3. AI Features & Gemini Nano
The AI Privacy Score feature uses Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano, which runs entirely on your device. No data is sent to Google or any third party as part of this feature. The AI model runs locally and all processing stays on your machine.
4. Data Breach Alerts
When Data Breach Alerts are enabled, the extension queries the HaveIBeenPwned API. Domain names of visited sites are sent to this third-party service. We use k-anonymity methodology (only the first 5 characters of a hash are sent) to protect your privacy even in this case. Please review HaveIBeenPwned's privacy policy for their data handling practices.
5. Pro Subscription
Payment processing for Pro subscriptions is handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment but do not store your payment card details. Your email address is used solely for license management and support communication.
6. Website Analytics
This website (smarthistorycleaner.com) may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand general traffic patterns. No personal information or browsing behavior is tracked.
7. Children's Privacy
Smart History Cleaner is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the extension or this website. Your continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
